A Family Glamping Adventure Done Right

During the Easter holidays, my partner, our two children (Emily, 14, and Luke, 8), and I enjoyed a wonderful mini-break at Cayton Village, located on Mill Lane, Cayton Bay, Scarborough, North Yorkshire, YO11 3NN. After considering the various accommodation options, including tent, a caravan pitch for Cub, yurts, pods, and cabins, we decided on a cabin as it offered the best of everything for us.

We drove from our home in Durham to Cayton Bay, looking forward to a quieter spot this time, having previously stayed at Haven – Primrose Valley nearby. Cayton Village turned out to be the perfect choice.

The site had everything we needed: reception area, a small children’s play area, a food van, an onsite shop and a few things that would be useful to others which included: dishwashing facilities, electric hook-ups, a disabled shower room, family washrooms, a toilet block, laundry facilities and electric vehicle charging points.

We arrived right at check-in time (3:00 PM) and were quickly given our key and fob. We were shown our parking spot and cabin location, and the children were excited they ran off ahead to open up the cabin whilst Richard and I packed one of the little wagons provided to transport luggage – a handy feature since we tend to pack a lot!

As we walked to our cabin, we noticed some groundwork being done, promising even better amenities for future visitors.

We were pleasantly surprised by the cabin’s size and cleanliness, which was even better than the photos had suggested. A lovely drinks and biscuit hamper was an unexpected treat.

We decided to keep the living room as it was and make the dining area into our double bed space, a privacy curtain could be pulled along, to provide just that, privacy. The children loved the internal mezzanine area, which made great use of space and was perfect for them despite the lower ceiling height.

The cabin was equipped with everything we needed for a week-long stay, making it much more than just a place for a night or two. It had all the comforts of home, ensuring we had a relaxing and enjoyable time.

We played games, chatted and just had much needed family time. One of the highlights of our stay was Emily’s enthusiasm for cooking in the small but well-equipped kitchen. She took charge of preparing several meals, which added a special touch to our family time. Her culinary creations were delicious and made our stay even more enjoyable.

On our mini break we visited Scarbrough as we are all a fan of a, ‘one arm bandit’ and traditional seaside charm and Whitby just because we really love it.

Our stay at Cayton Village was a perfect escape. We left feeling refreshed and eager to return to this charming spot on the Yorkshire coast. Highly recommended for a memorable family getaway!

We booked through The Caravan and Motorhome club which we have been members of since buying our teardrop camper in 2020 which led us to Experience Freedom and Glamping and booking was easy and quick.
