In 2009 I wrote a series of articles called, ‘A period review’. I tried and tested sanitary products over six months in the seventh month, no period = pregnant with my little girl.
Twelve years on, my little girl is on the brink of starting her period, whereas I am in the throes of perimenopause. So it seems like a good point to revisit these reviews and redo some of the trials with a few changes that weren’t available at the time.

Due to being peri-menopausal, fingers crossed we get to the end of the review, ‘period’.
What’s different this time around. Well, I now have two children and with the first labour, I suffered a double prolapse. To be honest it still makes me feel a bit queasy reading about it but here is some NHS information on it.
Here are the items to be covered over the next six months.
Month one: Tampons (five days and five different makes)
Month two: Sanitary pads
Month three: Menstrual discs (New to me so I will be researching)
Month four: Reusable sanitary pads
Month five: Period pants (five different types and budgets)
Month six: Menstrual cup (five different types).
Why five per month? This is the average length of my period. Some months I have more then one period too but I will just be reviewing for a five day ‘period’ each month.
Brands if you would like to collaborate do get in touch.
